Stones & Bones – a collaboration between RootlessRoot, Peter Randall-Page & Thomas Randall-Page
Since their very artistic beginning, RootlessRoot have focused on the scenic use of materials that can prove extremely challenging for the performers. In “Stones and Bones,” with original score by Vassilis Mantzoukis, five female performers move, with their own strength, heavy and rigid marble sculptures made by Peter and Thomas Randall-Page. The white marble – this metaphysical material, the foundation of European civilization, the very material of temples and mega structures – lies with all its beauty at the heart of this performance. The five performers are confronted with its weight and stiffness creating a landscape overwhelmed by the sounds of their effort to interact with it.

The group will record the entire process of the piece’s production, from the cutting of the stone to the moment it arrives onstage at the Onassis STEGI, from the preparations to the performance itself to the moment when all traces of it have disappeared from the stage.

There will also be an artist talk by Peter Randall-Page on 3rd April 2020 and his series of ‘Geometry of Desire I, III, IV & V’ 2015 are on show in the cultural centre building until the beginning April 2020.
